I is for Incoming Sandhill Cranes

Every year about this time, a small segment of the Platte River flood plain in Nebraska plays host to half a million Sandhill Cranes and other migratory birds as they gather for several weeks of feeding before heading north to Canada and Alaska for spring and summer. This wondrous spectacle attracts avid birders from far and wide, as well as drawing thousands of families from here in the heartland states to enjoy the up-close viewing of their social behavior.

A wonderful photo. We have a lake in Sweden called Hornborgasjön where the same thing happens around this time of the year. But not that many birds, more like 20 000 I think.
