December Theme - My Street

There are many great streets and byways for walking in the Omaha metro, but our favorite "street" is the new pedestrian bridge across the Missouri River from Omaha to Council Bluffs, Iowa. It connects miles of uninterrupted trails on both sides of the river and I've probably posted more photos of this bridge than any other feature in the metro, because we use it so often - especially for sunrise and sunset strolls.
On this morning's walk, it was uncharacteristically foggy, which made it fun to capture different views of the bridge such as the one seen here.

Moon over the Missouri

The sky was clear last evening in Omaha when the much-heralded "super moon" rose above the city. Here, walkers on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge over the Missouri River were treated to a view of its appearance just above the horizon.

Serpentine Connection

A mild January with above freezing temps, made for a nice walk yesterday along the river at dawn. This is a view of the new pedestrian suspension bridge across the Missouri River. The graceful lines of the bridge were designed to reflect the winding flow of the river itself as it traverses some 2300 miles across the great plains of the US.

A jogger catches the warming rays of a summer sunrise on the the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge across the Missouri River. One of the joys of walking the pedestrian bridge this time of year is watching the migratory birds overhead as they head down the Missouri River for warmer, southern climes. This low-flying duo of Canadian Geese appear to be testing their skills.

Weekend Reflection from The Bob

The office windows seen here reflecting the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge also provide a fine perch for a little flycatcher waiting for his next breakfast item to fly by.
The new pedestrian suspension bridge immediately won the hearts of local joggers, cyclists, walkers, etc. and have already tabbed it as The Bob, for short.
