Spirit of the Dance (1932) by painter and sculptor William Zorach (American, born Lithuania, 1887–1996) Zorach’s first large-scale composition, Spirit of the Dance for Radio City MusicHall, also represents his first work in cast aluminum. The work is based on an important concept in his oeuvre: rhythm. In addition to the aluminum work, Zorach had several bronze casts made, including this one.
