M is for Mailbox

On a walk around the downtown Old Market area, I noticed this vintage US Post Office mailbox built into a storefront enrtranceway to serve as a letter drop. Originally, it would have been one of many on a post office wall somewhere, but here in a different place and time it seemed unique.

To see a variety of variations for the letter M today, stop by Mrs. Nesbitt's place for a tour of ABC Wednesday.

Yes, yes, I know the sort of facility to which you refer. I guess this version predated individual keys. I quite like the though of dialing for my post. Not keen on everyone being able to see how much or how little post I get on an ongoing basis.

Beaut colour red, Raf.

Looks oddly familiar, as though I'd seen it long ago.

I really have a thing for old iron so I think it's beautiful. And what an ingenious way to use and display it.

I love your new blog, Raf! Sorry I was slow to visit and discover it, but this week has been a bit crazy for me.

A neat picture! I remember those - interesting that someone installed it in a different spot!

How did I miss this one? Actually, I remember that I missed M, so that explains it. Great shot, complete with reflection.
