The falls drops in two major steps, an upper falls of 542 feet and a lower falls of 69 feet, with a gradual drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet.
A foot trail leads to the Benson Footbridge, shown above, that allows visitors to cross the falls
and continue on a trail up to the summit that overlooks the Columbia River.

In 1995, a 400 ton boulder fell 225 feet (69 m) from the face of the waterfall into the pool above Benson Bridge. It caused a 70-foot (21 m) splash of water and gravel to wash over the footbridge, which in turn caused minor injuries to a wedding party that happened to be on it for photos at the time.

That is just gorgeous! I am completely beguiled by waterfalls, and would love to see Multnomah Falls in person someday (almost got to last summer - had our whole drive out there planned and reservations made - then had to cancel because of activity on our house-for-sale. We'll reschedule, though - we desperately want to visit that part of the country!)
Good thing the wedding party only suffered a few minor injuries! A 400-pound boulder? Yikes! I mean, most women want a big rock when they get married, but that's not exactly what we have in mind! :-)
Let's hope the saying 'the more mishaps at the wedding, the longer the marriage' holds true here haha! I absolutely love this image Raf, but there is no way on this earth EVER that I would be able to walk across it, so I will enjoy from afar!!
