The first day of each month is theme day for CDP bloggers and the subject for April is cobblestones. I have to fudge a little on this one since we are presently not in Nebraska. What I have in my laptop photo files that's pertinent to the theme are some pix from an earlier visit to Pompeii. So here then are perhaps the precursors to small, rounded cobblestones - very large, rounded stones used in the Roman Empire. This particular stone road in Pompeii is some two thousand years old. It and the entire city lay buried and forgotten after the Mt. Vesuvius eruption in 79 A.D. for about eighteen hundred years before excavation.

The original cobblestones. Beautiful.
SO beautiful! Love the low perspective too!
